Opportunity

Harness the power of digital technologies to better support Australians living with a mental health condition following a traumatic event.

Project objective

This project aims to identify and trial digital technologies to support patients’ mental health following a traumatic event. Researchers will use technologies to deliver interventions to mediate the risk factors following a traumatic event and/or enhance the development of protective factors that improve a patient’s mental resilience.

Starting with a comprehensive literature review, researchers will work to identify existing mental illness prevention strategies that are appropriate for digital delivery. Following this, the two or three most appropriate prevention strategies will be piloted in research trials featuring people who have sustained a traumatic injury at work and subsequently made a claim for compensation.

The results of the study will be used to develop effective approaches to support a person’s mental health following a traumatic event.
