State: New South Wales

Status: Ongoing

Define what constitutes high quality Primary Health Care (PHC) in general practice and develop an evidence-based tool for measuring it in an Australian context.

Project objective

This project sees Western Sydney University team up with eight Australian Primary Health Networks (PHNs) to review and revise a suite of evidence-based indicators that attempt to define what constitutes high quality general practice care.

Quality, Equity and Systems Transformation in Primary Health Care Project (QUEST PHC) will identify the patient-reported measures (PRMs) that are most suitable for use in Australian settings and will conduct focus groups to investigate consumer perspectives on these.

Focus groups will also be conducted with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services leaders; those within the prison health system; and the forensic mental health network to discuss the applicability of this research within these sectors.
