Spatial management of health risk: Applying geospatial technology for risk visualisation, hotspot identification, and analysis of geographic variation

Project Participants

Status: Completed

Opportunity

Use Health Management System’s (HMS) extensive data collections to develop a comprehensive, interactive, real-time Health Atlas for spatially-based population decision support processes.

Project objective

This project will develop a Health Atlas that will help health planners visualise data and utilise geospatial factors to understand the health needs of a diverse population.

The tool will enable and support innovations in the spatial targeting and evaluation of programmes of personalised interventions predicated on spatial knowledge of the environmental contexts of healthcare clients and their characteristics.

It will also allow users to map flows of consumers, relating where they live and how they move to where they access health services, identifying important differences between potential and realised access to care.
