Internship project: Survey of clinical governance maturity of medical staff

Project Participants

Status: Completed

Opportunity

The project aims to understand the current perceived level of maturity of clinical governance by doctors working in Australian hospitals. Clinical Governance lies at the heart of quality and safety in Australian hospitals, as it broadly describes the culture and processes used to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care. This project will involve undertaking a review of the literature on clinical governance maturity to support the development of a research manuscript. The project will involve collating and cleaning results from a survey of medical practitioners that has been developed by the College of Medical Administrators and will be distributed by the Medical Board of Australia to all doctors. The survey aims to assess the doctor’s understanding and perceived maturity of the implementation of clinical governance systems in the hospital where they work.

Project Objective

  • Understand the level of clinical governance maturity of doctors working in Australian Hospitals.
  • Explore the differences in clinical governance maturity of doctors working in different clinical contexts across Australia.
  • Identify a preliminary clinical governance maturity rating system for doctors in Australian hospitals.
