Internship project: Harnessing administrative data sets to support clinical team reflection and learning
Project Participants
Status: Completed
Opportunity
This project aims to analyse an administrative data set from a private hospital to generate insights about clinician performance that could be used to support individual and team reflection. It will include the extraction, transformation, analysis, and visualisation of the Hospital Casemix Protocol (HCP) data set.
The project will identify different ways to present routinely collected data to clinicians through a review of the literature. During the project, the intern will work with a human-centred designer and senior hospital staff to extract insights and explore new data visualisations from routinely collected clinical indicators. The project will contribute new ways to present data to individual clinicians and teams that support reflective practice for learning and development.
Project Objectives
- Extract and clean administrative data for use to understand clinician performance.
- Understand how administrative data can be analysed to understand clinician performance.
- Investigate visualisation of administrative data to support clinicians in understanding their performance.
