Internship project: Developing a Practice Analytics Maturity Matrix

Opportunity

Practice Analytics describes the use of health data to support health professionals to understand their practice, engage in lifelong learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and broader quality improvement (QI) initiatives. This project aims to explore the level of Practice Analytics maturity at hospitals across Australia and how this influences the implementation of Practice Analytics interventions at different organisations. During the project the intern will be involved in interviews with implementers of Practice Analytics programs which will include individuals in hospital executive roles, including, but not limited to: Medical and Clinical Governance Executive, Chief Information Officer, and Director Clinical Governance and Informatics. The intern will also be involved in analysing data from these interviews. This research will inform the development of resources that support Practice Analytics stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, professionals, and regulators) in rolling out effective Practice Analytics programs. The intern will have a chance to work with the Research in Implementation Science and eHealth (RISe) group, and may have opportunities to interact with industry partners and researchers working on the Digital Health CRC’s national Practice Analytics program.

Project Objective

• Understand the existing landscape of Practice Analytics maturity across Australia.

• Describe the different levels of Practice Analytics maturity (i.e. what constitutes low, medium, high maturity).

• Identify the implementation/translational supports required for different level of Practice Analytics maturity.
