Opportunity

As part of the newly developed Research Institute for Innovative Solutions for Well-being and Health (INSIGHT), the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will work with the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC) to undertake a research project for the Western Australia Country Health Service (WACHS).

The research involves a staged evaluation of the WA Antimicrobial Stewardship digital decision support tool known as Antimicrobial Pathways (AMPs) (previously known as Clinical Branches). This tool has been developed to support traditional text-based procedures with electronic clinical decision support pathways to support best practice prescribing. Following a pilot study undertaken in 2022, AMPs will be rolled out to over 100 sites in WA in late 2023. CHERE will evaluate its impact on a range of outcomes
measuring antimicrobial stewardship and uptake of the new tool.
