EMBRACE – Empowering the Australian healthcare sectors to embrace digital health – A collaborative initiative
Project Participants
Status: Ongoing
Opportunity
New digital and digital health-based medical technologies hold the promise of developing more efficient models of care and innovative ways to develop and adopt new medicines and treatments across the health sector.
A lack of a digital-ready healthcare workforce limits the ability to adopt and integrate new digital health technology advances into the workplace and everyday practices. This is preventing health systems from realising the health, economic, and social benefits these technologies have to society. There are many capability frameworks, but no clear guidance on how healthcare providers should operationalise these products. Committed to empowering the health workforce with advanced competencies in digital health and artificial intelligence, this project will form a consortium across the Queensland public health system to identify and bridge the skill gaps to support digital workforce capability in Queensland. This project is a government – academic – industry strategic partnership that aims to create a robust, forward-thinking workforce that can drive healthcare transformation and improve patient outcomes.
Project Objectives
- Establish the EMBRACE consortium, comprised of government, industry and academia, towards the strategic and effective bridging of the skill gaps in digital health workforce capability in Queensland.
- Conduct a learning needs assessment to understand the critical gaps in digital capability and develop a roadmap with recommendations and strategies to address these.
- Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum and education and training program relevant to various roles in Queensland Health.
