Learning from the PreHaRM experience, identifying points of convergence and disconnect, between policy and practice is critical for reducing implementation delays, and ensuring that AI technologies are introduced in ways that genuinely support clinical staff and improve patient outcomes.
This research investigates how senior healthcare professionals and executives interpret and apply the principles of Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) in real-world settings.
Project Objectives
This Fellowship looks to examine Australian government AI publications and what is understood by the Australian Healthcare professionals.
By reviewing and synthesising Australian government AI publications to identify commonalities and gaps regarding Safe and Responsible AI; and, to use the PreHaRM tool as an exemplar to identify and categorise Healthcare professionals’ understanding of Safe and Responsible AI, areas of upskilling and user acceptability that are required to facilitate the safe and responsible deployment of AI platforms in healthcare will be identified.
This review will seek to address the following questions:
- What do healthcare staff believe they are accountable for in relation to the requirements of responsible AI?
- What is written within AI governance and guidance documentation to define the accountabilities of healthcare staff requirements for responsible AI?
The results from both the interviews and review will be collated to produce the following key deliverables:
- An AI accountability desktop review and report.
- Peer reviewed publication.
