Internship project: Patient experience with chronic wounds and the Wound Care Command Centre

Project Participants

Status: Completed

Opportunity

This project aims to support the implementation of a digital wound model of care that combines an artificial intelligence wound application (patient-facing/clinician-facing) and a Wound Care Command CentreTM that provides clinicians and patients access to virtual and face-to-face wound specialists. The project is focused on understanding patients’ experiences with wounds and this new model of care.

The intern will be involved in conducting patient interviews and surveys with patients from the Wound Care Command CentreTM. The intern will be based at the Wound Care Command CentreTM, RPA Virtual Hospital based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to observe how the Centre functions and staff complete work. If time permits, students will also assist with transcription and data analysis.

Project Objectives

  • Explore patients’ experiences with existing wound care models.
  • Understand patients’ perspectives on how a new wound care model could be implemented effectively.
  • Describe patient priorities for an optimal implementation of a new wound care model.
