Prediction models in digital healthcare are becoming increasingly popular for prognosis, diagnosis, and decision support. Yet, there remains little evidence that these models make it into clinical practice, and even less evidence that they improve patient outcomes.

Whenever we hear that a new algorithm has the power to transform care, we need to consider how it will interact with digital infrastructure, clinicians, and most importantly, patients. Just as we cautiously approach new treatments, we must also cautiously approach new algorithms that lead to those treatments.

The visualisation was designed by Robin in collaboration with scientific visual communication specialists Graphics et al. as part of a DHCRC visual communication initiative.
